Vermont Insurance Attorneys
Insurance: “coverage by contract whereby one party undertakes to indemnify or guaranty another against loss by a specified contingency or peril . . .”
Disputes may arise within the context of insurance policies for auto, homeowners, commercial general liability, professional (medical, dental, legal, etc.), and other more specialized types of insurance. Various types of civil litigation, including personal injury, wrongful death, workers’ compensation, uninsured and underinsured motorist, construction, property damage and contract disputes, will often have related underlying insurance issues. While some insurance forms are seemingly easy to read and interpret, a correct understanding of the policy frequently requires careful analysis of: multiple policy clauses within a single policy; court decisions from one or more state or federal courts; and similar policies and disputes from other jurisdictions. We frequently represent insurers with issues regarding interpretation of their policies and also represent individuals and companies with disputes with insurers. We are also frequently hired by insurers to defend a variety of types of civil litigation matters.
